Interim Spaces is one of London's leading providers of truly affordable, flexible and sustainable workspace.
An impact-focused interim use specialist led by arts professionals, Interim Spaces offers trusted, reliable and high quality vacant property activation with tangible outcomes and all-round benefits for landlords, the local community, and our beneficiaries.
Whether a truly affordable workspace where new ideas come to life, a pop-up gallery in a vacant retail space, or a venue showcasing new work in the arts: our work unlocks significant social and economic capital by repurposing empty buildings.
We establish and operate high quality and sustainable creative hubs by using empty buildings fitted out with upcycled surplus construction materials and reclaimed furniture
Our workspaces are 90-100% affordable, significantly under market rents, with at least 20% granted for free to local community groups and sponsored social and cultural businesses
We employ locally and are supplied by local providers wherever possible
Our venues can make use of a wide mix of vacant property, showcasing new and experimental arts forms and providing platforms for new talent
We can animate vacant short-term retail and street-level premises with pop-up creative enterprises - from artist residencies and galleries to retail incubators
We provide ancillary services to the arts and cultural sector via low-cost rehearsal and development studios
We curate diverse memberships and programmes of arts, cultural and business events, activities and workshops
We encourage participation and collaboration between our members and local businesses
We ameliorate the effects of social isolation – a growing mental health concern in the UK – from working alone in flats, houseshares, cafes, the library and other public spaces
One of our current projects, PopHub Leicester Square, was recently recognised by the Mayor's office for its ethics and affordability, becoming one of nine London workspaces to be awarded the Mayor's Workspace Accreditation.
